Here at the Toscano Guitars Guitar Making School we offer a number of build options over 2 locations. From a fixed priced “Luthiers Selection” build right up to 1:1 Guitar Making tuition and consulting.
It’s not just about the guitar. You will learn some great skills and have an awesome time while doing the build.
All sessions and classes include:
World class tuition from recognised luthiers.
All builds overseen by head luthier Steve Toscano
Access to all tools, machinery, and jigs in a dedicated guitar making workshop along with instruction on how to use them.
A fun social workshop environment.
Weekly Custom Build
This is our most common class option
Hornsby $150 per 4hr class
Taylors Beach (Port Stephens) $100 per 3hr class
- A variety of class times – week nights, week days, weekend days.
- Pay per week on attendance.
- Approx 27 classes required to make a high quality handmade falcate braced OM Acoustic or traditional style classical guitar.
- Approx 13 classes required to make a solid body electric.
- A group class with up to 7 students at a time.
- Ability to skip weeks/classes throughout the build.
- Casual options also available.
Private Intensive Tuition
Available at Port Stephens workshop only
15 day option $5900 all inclusive
10 day option $4900 all inclusive
- Full time private tuition.
- Learn to make your own guitars OR make a one off heirloom instrument.
- All inclusive of master grade materials, hardware, and case.
- Flexible payment options available.
- Open to groups – lowers the per person price – quote on request.
- Acoustic, Classical, or Flamenco.
- Flexible days/hours, some students will do this course over several stints. eg a week here and there several months apart.
- Assistance with organising accommodation can be provided.
- Have a holiday in beautiful sunny Port Stephens while making a world class instrument.
- 15 day option is a build from scratch, you will do and make EVERYTHING including processing timber, hand slotting freboard, hand bending etc.
- 10 day option is with some premade parts eg Fretboard will be pre slotted and radiused, lumber will be pre processed.
- The end result for either the 10 or 15 day option will be the same, you’ll just take some short cuts in the 10 day option and therefore won’t learn every single step.

Consulting and guidance for existing luthiers looking to take their builds or career to the next level.

Taylors Beach workshop only (for face to face), can also be done remotely.
